What is a Life Group?

A Life Group is a gathering of people who meet regularly to encourage and support one another in their spiritual journey. Life groups are a place to do life together: living, learning, eating, playing, and resting together.

Why Should I Join a Life Group?

We consider Life groups to be one of the most important ways to experience connection and community at River Run Christian Church. Through a Life Group, you are able to learn the names behind the friendly faces you meet on Sunday and share in your spiritual journey with others, encouraging one another as you live, learn and grow together and with God. God doesn’t want any of us to be left to walk alone, we were meant to do life together.

When and Where Do These Groups Meet?

Our Life Groups meet on various days and nights of the week in homes throughout the community. Each group has a facilitator who may also provide the host home for the gathering.

What About Childcare?

We leave it up to each family to work out their own childcare. Sometimes it works best for families to share a sitter or to swap childcare with another family whose group meets on a different evening.

What Will We Study?

Some group's discussions are based on the previous weekend’s sermon, following a “Lecture-Lab” model. If you imagine the weekend sermon as a lecture on Christian living, then the group meeting is a lab where you get to roll up your sleeves and discuss how the sermon works out in real life. Other groups choose to study different curriculum based on group interest and leaders guidance. Several times each year all the small groups at River Run will study the same material and it will be aligned with the Sunday messages.

How Long Does A Group Last?

As with any friendship, we don’t determine the end before it’s even begun, so we’re giving individuals the freedom to determine how long they stay in a Life Group. However it is our hope that each group will grow and then reproduce other groups, bringing more people into the circle of community.
